Masaba For Satya Paul: Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week A/W 13

What happens when king of exquisite prints meets the queen of quirky eccentric prints- Creative genius! Masaba for Satya Paul was an absolute delight to watch. For me, this was the only show that has effortlessly blended fun while keeping intact the wearability. Neon hints and vivid lipstick prints gave the timeless classic Satya Paul sarees a youthful makeover. Also spotted were walking telephone booths, ha! I mean telebooth printed sarees and dresses.

I am SO digging this grey with neon lippie printed dress. It's like Satya Paul is 16 again :D!

As Simple As It Gets

It's complicated, but it doesn't have to be.
This is what I think everytime I'm in a fashion fix. The fix arises mostly when I can't decide what to wear or whether what I'm wearing goes with the occasion or not.
Have you spent ages trying on different outfits and still not feeling sure of what you've picked out is the best for that day? I used to, too.

Lately, I've started reverting to simplicity in all forms and considering that I'm a Punju (Punjabi, yeah true blue North Delhi-ite), it is a big darn deal since sho-shaa (Showing-off) is our said forte. Maybe it's just a no-fuss mood. I will go back to my authentic punjabi self in sometime :)

I mean, nothing against the OTT style icons that defy everything Simple. Specially Lady Gaga, The lady's got swagger! But Isn't that entertainment instead of fashion OR maybe these two terms co-exist?
Questions. Questions. Questions
Gah!
Imagine if this happened:

Remember I was whining in one of my previous posts' about How there's not one good purely online fashion retail brand in India? Looks like someone was listening :)

Just recently, I heard of bhane. It's basically the online venture of Shahi exports, the popular Indian export house. There are a couple of things I like about bhane. foremost being the strong branding. The essence of which, for them, is simplicity. Evident perfectly in their Interface, merchandise and styling. Also, extremely impressive customer service! Now let's just hope that wasn't a one-time wonde *fingers crossed*
Sure it's not everything that I was looking for but it's good start.

Just a peek into what I bought and How I wore it:

Jumper: Kazo, Jeans: Bhane, Shoes: Forever21, Bag: Forever New

Sprucing up this simple post with a little Quirky

Guess we all need a small dose of fun with fashion :)

New Beginnings + OOTD

Hello World!
It's a refreshing New Year. Instead of making resolutions (because obviously I failed to follow the ones I made last year), I'm leaving behind the bad juju- from some wrong decisions, regrets, mistakes in 2012 and starting on clean slate. I'm excited about all the new opportunities and adventure that i'm going to see and be a part of! I'm currently multi-tasking a lot, doing things that I enjoy, studying what I like so there's no reason to be unhappy :)
If all this gleaming and rainbows-butterflies talk is making you nauseous, I'll stop.

Do you have any idea how cold is it in Delhi? This is the city of extremities, both in terms of people and weather (You know what I'm talking about when I say 'people' of Delhi, unless you've been living under a rock)
And to give you a fair idea of the weather, here's a picture of two poor street chums Changu-Mangu we've been taking care of lately.

December was much more than just cold, lazy afternoons and naps. Here's what I wore on Christmas:

Dress: Forever21
          Leggings: GK M Block Market
        Coat: Local Boutique
        Shoes: Carlton London
Earrings: Splash
Santa Cap and Red Braided Hairband: Party Hunterz

High-Street Trends Online? Not in India, Baby!

Time for some not-so-random rant J

Like most of you, I love finding jaw-dropping eye-popping deals online. Stuff that makes me go “You won’tbelieve how much I got this for!” in front of others.
But the rarest thing is finding high-street trends on the Indian sites. Because they give you none!(yeah, except for maybe 1 or 2 websites that come slightly close to the category but not enough for me to be talking about them)

We’re all exposed to the hot 'off-the-runway’more or less affordable versions in the offline space (ZARAs and MANGOs of theworld), why not have an online brand for us Indians that can serve the same purpose minus the offline overheads?
Like I mentioned, I keep myself updated with who’s selling what and bookmark my favorites. Here are some online brands I'm digging for their affordability and merchandise

Studded Tee at Love culture for $16 (approx. INR 850)

Geometric Print Jeans at GoJane for $34 (approx. INR 1800)

Tribal print crop top at Gojane for $15 (approx. INR 800)

Suede Peep-toes at Gojane for $27 (approx. INR 1450)

Sequined Jumper at Miss Guided for 26 Euros (approx. INR 1800)

Lace Peplum Dress at Boohoo for 26 Euros (approx. INR 1800)

Aztec Neon Necklace at The Quiet Riot for $4 (INR 215)

I’d love to have a website giving me these at the same prices within India. After all, no sane soul will pay more than double the amount for shipping from these sites to India.

Is anyone listening?

Discovering Globus

The new collection at Globus is a burst of colors. Some very nomad chic pieces and others contemporary and refined for those who don't want to burn a hole in their pocket.

My favorite were the bags. I saw everything from neons to smart color blocks and different textures.

The green clutch below looked stellar and extremely reasonable at that.

Globus is one brand that does Ethno-chic very well. Remember Deepika padukone in Love AajKal? The blue kurta and Red churidar? It flew away from the racks at Globus and you could spot the Delhi University girls wearing them over and over again. Cray cray!

Few other things i liked
This sheer mint blouse

      Fun graphic tshirts for men

They had a whole lot of cute accesories, would have been difficult to click one thing so i took a shot of the entire wall. Go check it out yourself :)

All things beautiful.

What is it that grips us when we see something beautiful. Something inside us turns and twists, our hands itch to feel them, hold them, posses them. Funny how we work hard to earn every single penny that we do (well, atleast most of us) and it takes just a couple of minutes, a glance and we give in to the temptation of owning it. We convince ourselves that we need it, but who are we kidding? We tell ourselves well this and some of those and that is totally worth it. But hey *smirks*

Lace-ism

It's not just confined to racy lingerie. Lace is now about sophistication and feminity. It will dress you up but never dress you down.
Everyone's wearing it !
Its a sexy trend no doubt but isn't there a thing called too much lace?
There you go..Thats too much lace.

Jessica Alba at Chanel Haute Couture Fashion show. Lace dress with Black Lace Loubs. But she manages to look beautiful so WTH.

Kristen Stewart at Kids Choice awards 2012
Not crushing on the shade of blue but works for her!

And more recently, Sonakshi Sinha in a Shantanu and Nikhil dress.
J'adore!

And the following is my humble take on lace

Pleats + Lace+Three quarter sleeves= Exactly my idea of a lace dress

I was surprised at how quickly i found something so close to what i wanted.

                                                                       Wearing:
                                                                    Dress- Mango
                                                       Necklace/Shoes- Forever21
                                                             Clutch- Accessorize
                                                                     Belt- Pieces
                                                                   Bracelet- Gifted

On my lips: Ambika pillai- Flame

Time to bring in The Fashion Nazi

Lacy things that should disappear from the face of earth:

NO it's not classy. It's just impossible for any one to pull off these ugly-ass piece of clothing.
Unless, ofcourse, you're going to a strip club.
Um. Wait.
No. Not even then.

That's all for now
:)
